Centrally located Kollwitz is oozing with personality. A fascinating little neighbourhood bordering sought-after Berlin-Mitte, the region is arty, creative, thought-provoking and unpredictable. The large terraces along Ryke, Husemann and Kollwitzstraße beckon interested wanderers. There are weekly markets at Kollwitzplatz and The Kulturbrauerei (previously Schultheiß Brewery but now an exceedingly hip performance space) hosts a street food market each and every Sunday. Regardless of Kollwitz’s local credentials, here you can wander across to Mitte, across the River Spree and take in ‘Museum Island’ by foot. And while the public transport network here is impressive; the Reichstag Building, Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall and Alexanderplatz are completely walkable.
