In north-eastern Weißensee you will experience Berlin life as a local in this residential town. In the summer months the magnificent park comes to life. The Weißensee strandbad (or lake house) is alive with fresh water swimmers and the magical Freilichtbühne open-air theatre wows crowds as the sun goes down. Throughout the winter the impressive sauna complexes take over. The area is served by buses and trams and both can be caught at nearby Albertinenstraße transport terminus. The tram will take you into the heart of the city via Prenzlauerberg (where you can also pick up the S-train), Winsviertel, Alexanderplatz and finally Berlin-Mitte. From here you can discover Berlin’s iconic landscape from Checkpoint Charlie to the Jewish Museum, and the soaring Berliner Fernsehturm to the Brandenburg Gate.
