Tempelhof district is situated in the south-central part of the Berlin City and together with the quarters of Mariendorf, Marienfelde, and Lichtenrade, constitutes a borough of its own. The area was earlier the site of the Tempelhof Airport, which is recognized as one of the original commercial airports in the world. However, at present, efforts are being made to save the structure.
