The streets are glittering with Christmas lights, the smell of mulled wine hangs in the air and the melody of Christmas songs can be heard everywhere you go. It’s definitely December!
To really enjoy the festivities of London at this time of year, there is a vast number of activities and lots of festive fun to be a part of. From ice-skating under some of London’s most famous sights to the immersing Christmas experience of Winter Wonderland, there’s always something you can find in the city.
Given that Christmas lights adorn just about every part of the city, they’re an easy and beautiful way to get into the festive spirit. However, for those that offer just that little bit more of a display, the likes of Carnaby Street and Oxford Street don’t disappoint with some great decorations of festivity and lights. For others, ice-skating may be the perfect way to get you into the festivity of the season with some truly spectacular ice rinks dotted around the capital including the Natural History Museum and at the Tower of London.
Alternatively, for a bit of light Christmas shopping, you can check out one of London’s many Christmas Markets. Traditional wooden chalets line the banks of Thames, full of trinkets and gifts, and a mouth-watering selection of seasonal treats and snacks. Try Southbank Centre’s Winter Market or the stunning views at Christmas by the River at Tower Bridge. Or for the ultimate festive experience, try Winter Wonderland, London’s biggest Christmas attraction and a magical setting right within Hyde Park. Embrace the Christmas spirit at the famed markets, warm up by the log fires in Thor’s Tipi Bar or take in the 360 degree panoramic views from its 80 metre high platform tower.
London has plenty to do this Christmas, so don’t miss the opportunity!
