While the south and west are bordered by Camden Town and Primrose Hill respectively. The serviced apartments in Chalk Farm are scattered all over the residential complex. So you will have plenty of options in hand. But it’s best to choose your accommodation depending on your individual needs. Facts About Chalk Farm

The small urban district Chalk Farm based in North London is a great place to stay. But before you move there, here are some amazing facts that can pique your interest levels.

  • The present-day Chalk Farm previously went by the name of Manor of Rugmere. It was an estate and is documented in the Domesday Book (manuscript on England and Wales) in 1086. A portion of the manor was later brought by Henry VIII which we today know as the Regent’s Park. The remaining half became Chalk Farm.
  • Even the etymology of the current name is disputed. It clearly does not derive from the soil as the region is formed on London Clay. The general belief is ‘Chalk Farm’ came from the Middle English terms ‘Chaldecote’ or ‘Caldecote’. They became ‘Chalcotts’ by the 16th century followed by ‘Chalk’ by 1746. But, ‘Chalcott’ was still in use for a nearby estate (the Upper and Lower Chalcot Farms) in the early 19th century. And there is a common claim that Chalk Farm was actually Lower Chalcot Farm. But as per some, Chalk Farm got its name due to the whitewashed farm buildings and not ‘Chalcot’.
  • The area also has no formal boundaries. The core region is between Chalk Farm Road in the east and the western boundary of St Pancras. But Chalk Farm also comprises portions of Camden Town with Primrose Hill ward.  And even some of Haverstock ward. There are ongoing reviews, following which the margins may get more defined.

Weather in Chalk Farm

Chalk Farm weather just like the rest of London is quite unpredictable. The winters are pretty cool and chilly with the temperatures moving around 5°C and 10°C mostly. Occasional snows are seen during January and February. On the other hand, the summers are warm but mild for most tourists. The highs and lows are near 22°C and 15°C respectively. July and August are the preferred time to enjoy the London streets in the sunshine. That being said, rainfall is quite absurd and sudden in Chalk Farm. So, you will need a bit of luck to avoid that.
