Jardindu Luxembourg
Luxembourg Gardens are all about beautiful walkways, charming trees, immaculate lawns and flowerbeds. The famous attraction borders Latin Quarter and St-Germain. Covering 23 hectares of land, the beautiful gardens are a backdrop to the Luxembourg Palace constructed in the 1620s.
Luxembourg Palace
Located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, Luxembourg Palace was originally built to the designs of French architectSalomon de Brosse. The palace was refashioned by Jean Chalgrin and made into a legislative building. Later on, it was remodelled by Alphonse de Gisors.
The palace is home to the French Senate since 1958 and is also a famous tourist attraction.
MuséeZadkine
MuséeZadkine is a museum committed to the work of sculptor OssipZadkine. It was established by Zadkine’s wife who willed her assets and personal collection to Paris. MuséeZadkine was inaugurated in 1982 following her demise.
Today, it contains approximately 300 sculptures along with some drawings, photographs and tapestries.
Situated close to Jardin du Luxembourg, the museum also houses a fine garden.
Fontaine Saint-Sulpice
Situated in Place Saint-Sulpice in the 6th arrondissement, Fontaine Saint-Sulpice is a monumental fountain constructed by Louis Visconti between the years 1843 and 1848. The fountain has four images that represent Bossuet, Fénelon, Fléchier and Massillon, the four French religious figures of the seventeenth century.
Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe
One of France’s six national theatres, Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe is located on the bank of the Seine next to Jardin du Luxembourg. It was originally constructed between the years 1779 and 1782 in a neoclassical design by Marie-Joseph Peyre and Charles De Wailly.
The theatre was redesigned in the year 1808 by Jean Chalgrin and was then designed for the third and final time by Pierre Thomas Baraguay. The new structure was opened in 1819.
Rue de Seine
A street in the 6tharrondissement, Rue de Seine boasts of a rich and profound history, close to some very famous Parisian landmarks such as Café de Flore and Les DeuxMagots. Rue de Seine is home to a plethora of antique dealers and art galleries. Popular fashion stores such as Hugo Boss and Dior are also found in the vicinity.
