Rue Dauphine

Description

A unique 3rd floor apartment full of quirks and original features in the heart of trendy Saint-Germain. Chunky exposed beams add a rustic charm juxtaposed by the ultra-sleek modern kitchen, this style-conscious apartment is super practical and perfectly made for two.

The open-plan lounge and diner is relaxed and informal with archetypal Parisian views overlooking your neighbours’ pretty window boxes and the buzz of the streets below. The statement kitchen is completely part of the lounge meaning the chef need never leave the party.

Not quite a studio; in the bedroom, restored beams and bolsters hint at the story of the building’s past. The in-room WC and basin as well as the wet-room style shower separated by a glass brick wall encourage free living in this playful and relaxed space.

But this apartment is all about what’s right on your doorstep; underground Jazz caverns, one hundred year old cafes with packed terraces and wine bars that never sleep fill the area with pleasant distractions. We love La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels for its 3,000 strong wine list and Chez Georges for its diverse crowds.

Area info

Fashionable Saint-Germain-des-Prés on Paris’ Left Bank (La Rive Gauche) is a colourful and cultured part of Paris famed for attracting the non-conformist artists of the 19th Century and the non-conformist thinkers and writers of the 20th. Home to an enthusiastically disproportionate ratio of theatres and cinemas, this is the town to discover obscure international films, reacquaint yourself with old American classics in theatres that pre-date Louis XIV or stay up all night at the “Nuits du Champo” for a trio of movies that start at midnight and end with croissants and coffee.

Being so close to the Seine, a stroll along the river is a must. Don’t miss the Musée d’Orsay set inside an ornate repurposed train station. Cross over to the Right Bank (Le Rive Droite) via Notre Dame for the Louvre and Montmartre. If you have the time, you really can see the best of the city on foot. If you’re in a rush, no problem - the Metro system makes navigating the city extremely easy.
