Rue Danielle Casanova

Description

A spacious retreat in a stunning 17th Century building, this lovely serviced apartment in the heart of Paris’ 1st Arrondissement is an historic space in an incredible location. With many earlier buildings razed throughout the city during the late 19th Century to make way for Haussmann’s grand city renovation, this was one of a lucky few permitted to remain. A traditional Hotel de Particulier, it would have been originally built as a city base for French Noblemen. Today, the building has been adapted into apartments allowing guests to enjoy a slice of medieval Paris.

Black and white photography, architectural sketches and classical paintings adorn the walls telling the tales of Paris’ past. Rich wooden floors, high ceilings, sumptuous curtains, pretty French windows with Juliet balconies and white shutters add an innately European elegance to the place.

The living room features a cream sofa and two Empire style armchairs around a coffee table, full-height French window and Juliet balcony, it’s a truly serene space to enjoy a good book. The bright kitchen and breakfast room has rustic wooden countertops and retro-Americana appliances. The master bedroom has generous proportions and another lovely big window filling the room with natural light. Its big wardrobe and chick yellow miniature chests of drawers provide plenty of storage space, it has an inviting queen size bed. The second bedroom is a chic twin room, again with lots of storage space and a lovely large French window. The bathroom in simple white tiles has a bathtub with a shower head and a wash basin and a separate WC.

This part of Paris is recognised for its classy but casual air and this apartment truly reflects that. Not stuffy of formal, but stylish and comfortable. Here, you’re only moments away from the million dollar square; Place Vendôme. Originally set-out in 1702 to celebrate the armies of Louis XIV, today the square is home to the Ritz, Chanel and Charret. We recommend downloading Nicole Garcia’s Place Vendôme, a late-nineties crime drama, for a rainy day in Paris.
