Description

A grand three bedroom apartment on the premier floor of this beautiful building on prestigious Avenue Foch. The generous entrance hall gives a palatial first impression. Chunky gilt frames displaying moody still life, symmetrical art deco furniture and a bold heavy rug on rich parquet flooring welcome guests in style.

The grand living room is impressive in its vast proportions. With three individual sets of elegant ceiling height French windows each with a decorative Juliette balcony and framed by sumptuous curtains, the leafy views across the courtyard are delightful. The stunning wooden dining table provides formal dining for up to six guests and the piano is perfectly placed for a budding virtuoso.

The first of three attractive and spacious double bedrooms has a cream carpet on parquet flooring, its own full French windows and an indulgent ensuite, featuring twin wash basins a walk-in shower and jacuzzi bathtub. The second bedroom in warm terracotta has an oriental inspired feature wardrobe, unique corner window and private ensuite. The third bedroom is bright with a great desk space and a wet-room style ensuite with earthy floor-to-ceiling mosaic tiling reminiscent of a Moroccan hammam

As part of the 19th Century rejuvenation of Paris, symmetrical Haussmann buildings were popping up thick and fast, along carefully considered Avenues and Boulevards. The attractive layout of Paris’ 16th Arrondissment is no accident and at 390 feet wide, Avenue Foch is Paris’ widest road. Lined with 4,000 Chestnut trees and decorated with gardens and bridle ways it was originally conceived as a promenade for fashionable Parisians to see and be seen.

Paris’ Archetypal Haussmann buildings are characterised by the huge luxurious first floor dwellings designed for the fashionable and affluent. As you ascend the floors the apartments get smaller until you reach the petite quarters of the attics, built for servants and staff and today populated by the international professionals of Paris.

Here you’re a stone’s throw from many of the top tourist haunts; The Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe and Boulevard Haussmann are within walking distance. Head due South along Avenue Raymond Poincaré for a leisurely stroll to the Iron Lady herself, la Tour Eiffel.

Probably more space than I needed for my 2 weeks stay in Paris. This was our second visit to the city so didn’t wanted to feel like a tourist and opt to stay in a Parisian style home that this apartment fulfilled. The building is close to many good stores, restaurants and tube station. So almost everything is available in walking distance.
