As a garden city Welwyn is by nature say to navigate on foot. Most of the central amenities are within close proximity to each other and so public transport is not necessary. However, the town also features an excellent bus service, with routes around the surrounding areas as well as into Luton, St Albans and Stevenage.
From the railway station, there are around nine trains per hour into London during busy periods, with a journey time of as little as 28 minutes. There are also direct lines to Cambridge and Letchworth Garden City, via Stevenage.
The town also has several taxi and private hire firms, offering reasonable rates for journeys to the surround areas that might be harder to reach by public transport.
