4 Bedroom Apartment in Chelsea

Too-cool-for-school Chelsea has been a popular district with locals and visitors alike for a couple of decades now. It has seen an influx of sustainable fashion boutiques, food halls and wine caverns that now make for a rewarding meander through renovated factories and re-purposed gallery spaces.

This huge serviced apartment in the heart of Chelsea’s Fashion District with rich polished hardwood floors, exposed brick and high-spec finishes throughout, is an ideal base to explore this diverse and electric city. A desirable loft unit, up on the 3rdfloor of a secure, traditional walk-up style NYC apartment building with enough room for everyone.

The central communal area is a large open plan living room / diner / kitchen space perfect for big groups to get together. In the living room the exposed brick and stunning wooden floor brings the space bang up to date. A lovely large sofa (which opens into an additional queen size bed), three neo-classical Empire style chairs, a chaise longue and a reading chair provide ample seating around the coffee table. Across the room you’ll find the attractive dining suite with spaces for up to eight. And opposite the dining room is the fully open plan kitchen with some very useful features; a dishwasher, microwave, coffee-maker, gas oven with four rings and large American-style fridge-freezer complete with water and ice dispensers. There is also a washer-dryer inside the apartment.

The bedrooms in this property are unusually large and none more so than the huge first bedroom. Dominated by a pretty, ornate silver bed frame, this bright and spacious room includes inviting linens, a closet, an armchair and a chest of drawers. The second bedroom has deep wooden floors, bright blue walls and rustic Scandinavian furniture. The cutesy bed-head has a small shelf perfect for your bedtime books or your morning coffee. The third bedroom is a remarkably roomy twin. It has two queen size beds, a full-length mirror and a chest of drawers. The final bedroom feels every bit the loft conversion with cool NY art on exposed brick. This room also has a full-length mirror.

Both bathrooms are modern and luxurious with new suites on grey slate.

Area info

For much of the second half of the 20th Century the area now known as Chelsea was an industrial centre typified by warehouses and factories. The 1990’s saw two things; 1.a decline in demand for such vast industrial spaces and 2.a rise in contemporary art lovers looking for affordable unusual gallery space. And the rest is history. Today Chelsea is New York’s contemporary art Mecca with many high-profile galleries such as Gagosian and Gladstone. Galleries, museums and performance spaces are tucked away in old ruins, visit The Kitchen which takes its name from its original purpose.

Chelsea Market, inside the reclaimed National Biscuit Company factory building is a huge and varied indoor food hall with vendors selling anything from coffee and cakes to wine and cheeses. Pop-in for breakfast but don’t be surprised if you stick around until lunch, and later.

Pick up the High Line, a 1,400 ft long unused railway line that has been renovated into one of Manhattans most interesting green spaces. Hop off at Hell’s Kitchen for affordable and well-made world cuisine.

The Chelsea Piers are home to New York City’s most impressive sports venue where you can sign-up to a temporary membership and enjoy swimming, yoga classes, an indoor rock wall, obstacle course training, indoor sand volleyball courts and two gorgeous Hudson facing sundecks during your stay.

Stayed for 6 nights on a business trip. Could tell immediately that the apartment had been fitted out with care and thought: the shower, hob, microwave/oven, fridge, kitchen equipment, flatscreen TV and bed are all of a very high standard. Fast Wifi .
