Welcome to Japantown, or as referred to as “Nihonmachi” (Japanese) by some locals! Also known by a variety of other names which have evolved over the years, such as: - ‘J-Town’, ‘Little Osaka’, this neighborhood of San Francisco is located in the Western Addition District of the city. On the south of Japantown is Geary Boulevard from where the major traffic can be seen going to and coming from. The area was finally settled post the World War II in the year 1968 when the Japan Centre was set up. This is from where it got its present beloved name of ‘Japantown’.
