Lower Saxony's state capital is large - but your old town is a small and popular part of it. Surrounded by picturesque buildings, squares and churches, it invites your visitors and residents to become a part of it - right in the heart of the city of Hanover.
The old town of Hanover is unique. Only around 40 houses were spared from the destruction of the Second World War in the entire district. The residential buildings visible today were either rebuilt after the war or moved here as complete houses - mostly half-timbered houses - from the surrounding parts of the city. In between are beautifully landscaped squares such as Ballhofplatz or Hanns-Lilje-Platz, surrounded by the banks of the Leine and the oldest church in the city - the Kreuzkirche.
With popular shopping and strolling streets, numerous unusual gastronomy concepts and a very good infrastructure connection, the old town is one of the most popular residential areas in all of Hanover.
Salsa and tango nights, international theater performances and jazz festivals: culture and music can be experienced in the old town in harmony with its residents.
Distinctive historical buildings, such as the market church, the old town hall or the Ballhof create a unique feeling of living here.
Despite the wide range of offers, there is still time for rest and contemplation behind the historic facades. Many bedrooms face the quiet backyards. New residential areas emerged - for example the Kreuzkirchhofviertel - in which one can live wonderfully in desired seclusion and tranquility.
Thanks to a large multi-storey car park and various private and public car parking spaces, the old town also offers good parking facilities despite its inner-city location.
