Those born to at least one or both Singapore parents will automatically be Singapore citizens from birth, irrespective of their locations at the time. Being born in Singapore is not an automatic qualification for citizenship. At the same time, Singapore offers permanent residency to those setting up a business in the city-state or finding a job or even marrying a citizen. Thereafter, after a two-year residency, the application for citizenship can be made likewise.
