I think you can consider South Kensington, Covent Garden, Bloomsbury, Notting Hill and Marylebone. It depends on what kind of vibe you dig. I personally like Convent Garden and Marylebone, as they are central, upscale and convenient.

The areas Sophie mentioned are good neighbourhoods. If you like shopping and eating out, they are great choices.
Paddington is a well-connected area if you are here for business.

I like staying in Shoreditch. Somewhere around Liverpool Street or Bank is good as well.
