I’m here over the christmas season and I just thought, what happens to public transport over this period? Does it run as normal?

Hi Yunita - Travel does operate as normal, however you may find that reduced services are in operation during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Transport is generally in operation 24hrs on New Years Eve, but check your route before setting out :)
