What is our Sustainability Programme?

As part of a global economy, it is our duty to do our bit for the environment.

Here at TheSqua.re, we position ourselves at the forefront of eco-friendly initiatives in the serviced apartment and travel industry. We have previously implemented measuring from replacing diesel vans with electric vehicles to selecting less harmful cleaning chemicals. More recently, we have built EcoGrade, a feature that allows our guests to understand the environmental impact of their booking and make carbon-conscious decisions.

By becoming a member of our sustainability programme, suppliers can provide exact and up-to-date data on their properties, ensuring complete transparency and accuracy.

The additional information will include the precise address of each apartment, up-to-date EPCs, and evidence of improvements made to the sustainability of apartments (e.g. low energy lighting, efficient boilers, new double glazing or insulation).

What is EcoGrade?

We have introduced EcoGrade, a measure of how sustainable a stay will be in one of our apartments, regardless of power sources, regions, number of bedrooms, or weather. Our star ratings remove the complexity of underlying CO2 calculations because we do the maths for you. We gather the world's best data sources for every region and use advanced computer science and data processing methods to convert complexity into simplicity for our users.

We do this accurate reporting of sustainability factors in several categories for as many territories as possible. It is a challenge because of the effort required to locate high-quality, valid data on buildings, energy suppliers, and transport systems for different regions. Why you should join the programme.

Our Sustainability Programme builds on the success of EcoGrade. With EcoGrade, we automatically provide scores for apartment listings by distilling relevant data from publicly available, government-approved data sources. This score allows us to understand the impact that our apartments are having on the environment. Our Sustainability Programme enables you to update the data we use for your apartments, ensuring it is accurate. The result is that we can issue a Verified EcoGrade Score for your updated listings, and you can show your new certified status to the world! read more

How it works.

Step one:

Suppliers can join the Sustainability Programme as a member for free.

Step two:

Suppliers are encouraged to provide exact and up-to-date additional data and information on their properties. This includes the precise address of each apartment, up-to-date EPCs, and evidence of improvements made to the sustainability of apartments (e.g. low energy lighting, efficient boilers, new double glazing or insulation).

Step three:

Once the accuracy of the information has been reviewed, suppliers can become certified. Suppliers are given a banner stating their certified membership of our Sustainability Programme. This includes a banner stating that the supplier is a certified member of the programme and a second optional banner which also includes your overall EcoGrade score, calculated from an average of all your listings.
