Alice Springs is a self-sufficient city and therefore has plenty of places to shop. The Yeperenye Shopping Centre on Hartley Street is the place to go if you are looking for fashion brands, homeware and other retail goods under one roof, whilst nearby Alice Plaza also hosts a great range of both independent shops and global chains.


Alice Springs’ biggest attraction is undoubtedly its striking landscape. Alice Springs Desert Park is a popular attraction which showcases some of the best vistas and wildlife, whilst also being easily accessible from the city. For those a little more adventurous, Trek Larapinta offer multi-day excursions to the red mountains that dominate the skyline just outside of the urban area.  


Alice Springs is reasonably well connected to the larger urban areas in the region by its overground rail station, which has several services per day running to Adelaide. However, for getting around the city centre, visitors are limited to using the bus - which does provide a comprehensive service to all the major parts of the city, as well as several dedicated services out towards the natural landmarks.

Alice Springs has a growing economy that is largely based around tourism and agriculture.
