ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Schedule, Fixtures, Venues
Cricket fans worldwide are anticipating the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The ninth edition of the biennial tournament will kick off with England as the reigning champions after their victory against Pakistan. The matches start from the 1st of June,2024 with 55 matches played across nine cities in two countries. USA and West Indies host the tournament.
Where are the T20 World Cup matches taking place?
Hosted by the USA and West Indies, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will occur across nine cities, three in the US and six in the Caribbean. Ten of the 20 teams will play their first match of the 29-day tournament in the USA, with 16 contests to be held in Lauderhill, Dallas and New York.
Five matches will be played in Dallas, Texas at the Grand Prairie stadium. Teams such as the USA, Canada, Netherlands, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be competing to qualify for the championship.
- New York will be hosting matches for the teams Sri Lanka, South Africa, India, Ireland, Canada, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the USA.
- The Broward Stadium in Broward County, Florida will be hosting matches for Sri Lanka, Nepal, the US, Ireland, India, Canada and Pakistan.
- In the West Indies, the matches will be played across six islands. Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago.
- In Antigua & Barbuda, the teams that will be facing off are Oman, Scotland, Australia, Namibia and England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound.
- The Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados will be seeing England, Australia, Namibia, Oman and Scotland competing against each other.
- The hosting team West Indies will be competing against Papua New Guinea in the National Stadium, Georgetown, Guyana. Other teams such as Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Afghanistan will also be competing against each other.
- In Arnos Vale Stadium, Kingstown, St. Vincent, the teams that will be participating are Bangladesh, Netherlands, South Africa, and Nepal.
- In St.Lucia, the venue for the matches will be the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. The matches will be played amongst Australia, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, West Indies and Afghanistan.
- In Trinidad and Tobago, the matches will be played at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba with teams that are participating in are:- West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea and Uganda.
What is the format and fixtures of the ICC World Cup 2024?
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 55 matches in total. 40 matches will be Group Stage matches. 12 matches will be played in the Super 8 format. The top two teams qualifying from each Super 8 stage will be competing in Semi-finals with two qualifying for finals.
The fixtures for the 20 teams that have qualified for the World Cup tournament will be divided into four groups.
- Group A features teams from India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
- Group B features teams from England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.
- Group C features teams from New Zealand, the West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea.
- Group D features teams from South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal.
