Goregaon is a prime and affluent locality in the western suburbs of the ever expanding city of Mumbai. The area is nestled between Andheri and Borivali, making it very much close to the two major residential districts in the city. Goregaon district is easily accessible and well-connected to other parts of the city through the Western Express Highway and Link Road.
Due to the area’s sophisticated feel, the neighbourhood is home to many international schools, malls and office spaces. This blossoming neighbourhood enjoys great connectivity, housing projects and has its own train station, offering easy accessibility and hassle-free commute in and around the city.
For antique bargains head to Chor Bazaar, commonly known as the Thieves' Market, where finds include crystal chandeliers and elephant seats. The Colaba Causeway street market has an exotic array of clothing, but you should be advised to haggle hard with market owners.
Getting around in Goregaon
Goregaon Railway Station is the main transport hub in the area. Currently, the station has five platforms, many of which offer regular services to Andheri and central Mumbai. The next largest transport project for Goregaon will be the GMLR ( Goregaon Mulund Link Road ) which will be a 5km underground road consisting of two tunnels each having three lanes. This road will link Goregaon to Bhandup.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is 14 KM from the district of Goregaon, while Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Station is 20 KM away.
