Fall Romance in The City: The Best Date Ideas for Fall in New York
Although Paris may be the first city to come to mind when thinking about romantic cities, New York cannot be far behind. New York is a city where the possibilities are endless. It doesn’t lack when it comes for romantic things to see and do and when it comes to wining and dining the choices are myriad.
Aside from the wining and dining, which can come late, here are a few ideas if you’re out on a date in the Big Apple this fall.
Top of the Rock Observation Deck
What better way to start off your date in New York than by checking out the city, all at once? The Top of the Rock gives you one of the best views of the city you can find. The observation decks are on the 67th, 69th and 70th floors of the Rockefeller Center and have panoramic glass through which you can see the New York Skyline together. The views at night are the most romantic.
If you really want to impress (and you’re feeling brave), why not try the Beam Walk?
A Stroll Through Central Park
The fall is one of the best times to visit New York City. The fierce heat of summer has gone and it provides some respite before the biting winter begins. The temperature is just about perfect.
One of the places that sums up New York City in fall best is Central Park. The trees turn an amazing array of gold, red, orange and brown. With the city providing a backdrop, these vibrant colours, along with the smells of roasted nuts as you stroll in the evening air make it tough to remember you’re in one of the busiest places in the world.
Tiffany’s
One of the most famous and world-renowned jewellers, Tiffany’s has been open for business since 1940. The store itself on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th is as iconic as the name itself, with its art deco design and stainless steel doors, overlooked by a statue of Atlas shouldering a clock.
It’s certainly a worth a window shop, some of the beautiful merchandise can be seen, and the building itself can be admired whilst standing outside with a coffee. However, if you’re feeling brave, the best of the merchandise can be seen up close inside the store.
New York’s Waterways
A fantastic way to see the city from a different perspective. If you like your romance mixed in with exercise then why not hire a kayak and take to the water? However, if you want to ensure your feet remain dry there are also plenty of scenic cruises for you to choose from.
The most cost effective romantic cruise can be taken on the Staten Island Ferry. It’s a free ride from Battery Park City and offers fantastic views of the harbour, as well as the iconic Statue of Liberty.
