Union Square Park and Green Market

This is a park and a farmers’ market that sits in the center of busy and bustling neighbourhood. The square in the late 19th and early 20th century became a meeting point for numerous protests and demonstrations.

On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, this greenmarket gathers farmers from various areas. Come here and check out a diverse range of fruit and vegetables, flowers, cheeses, plants, fresh-baked pies and breads and cider. You also get wines, fish, and meat here.

Flatiron Building

Designed by Daniel Burnham, this 20 storey building has a narrow triangular footprint that looks like the prow of a massive ship and a conventional beaux arts facade. The building gets more complex and gorgeous the more you stare at it. If you want to see this building at its best, go to the traffic island north of 23rd St between Broadway and Fifth Ave.

The building is still functional and houses various private businesses.

National Arts Club

The club was founded in the year 1898 to uphold the public interest in arts. The place has a stunning stained-glass ceiling above the wooden bar in its picture-lined front parlor. One of the creators of Central Park, Calvert Vaux designed this building. There are various art exhibitions that take place at the club ranging from sculpture to photography.
