Victoria is located within the City of Westminster in the centre of London. The district gets its name from Victoria Street and Victoria Station, which in turn were named after Queen Victoria. The name Victoria was chosen due to the streets linking to the area, which include Victoria Street, Buckingham Palace Road, Wilton Road, Vauxhall Bridge Road and Grosvenor Gardens.
Victoria contains a high volume of commercial properties, restaurants, banks and shops, including a Marks and Spencer store and a large House of Fraser department store. It is also home to one of the busiest transport interchanges not just in London but also within the United Kingdom. This is made up of Victoria Station and underground station, Terminus Place that is home to an extensive network of buses and taxis and Victoria Coach Station. Victoria is also home to the headquarters of Transport for London at Windsor House, New Scotland Yard and the Victoria Palace Theatre, which is home to many musicals, currently Billy Elliott. The Apollo Victoria on Wilton Road has been home to musicals such as Starlight Express and Wicked.
