No matter where you are in London, you’re never too far from a festival or exciting event. During the summer time, London is soaked in festive mood with amazing music festivals, events and pop-ups all over the city.
You’ll find hundreds of events in and around London throughout June, July and August, and London truly becomes magical when the sun is out. 11 June: Trooping the Colour, The Queen’s Birthday Parade
London celebrates The Queen’s official birthday every year with the ceremony Trooping the Colour. The event takes place on Horse Guards Parade and Her Majesty the Queen herself carries out an inspection of the troops and takes the salute. The parade route leads down to Buckingham Palace and is a great event celebrating Britain.
Enjoy the glamorous horse racing event at Royal Ascot with five days of tradition, pageantry and style. The Royal Ascot is a perfect way to spend a day away from the busy London life while enjoying the great atmosphere and lots of tasty champagne.
Book your tickets in advance to watch the world’s most premium tennis tournament. The popular tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July during which the entire area is packed with happy tourists and locals. This highly popular tournament attracts around 500,000 spectators and millions of television viewers worldwide.
1-3 July: Love Supreme Festival
Love Supreme is a jazz festival in Glynde, East Sussex that brings together 3 days of ultimate fun with artists from the four corners of the world of jazz. Enjoy funk, soul and blues in a place where classic jazz meets modern boutique. The venue is set against the attractive backdrop of Glynde Place in Sussex and the show is organised in association with Jazz FM.
7 April – 17 July: Udderbelly Festival at Southbank Centre
Enjoy a fun-filled event at Southbank Centre’s Udderbelly Festival, watching live acts inside a giant upside-down purple cow. The Visions Festival in Hackney offers a big dose of creative fun with this year’s acts that include Young Fathers, Anna Calvi, Mykki Blanco and Gengahr. The one-day festival with underground music, street food and crafts markets give you everything you need for a great day out in the sun.
13 August: River Rat Race
Get ready to swim, crawl, jump, slide and laugh in the London Rat Race. Large groups of Londoners make their way around the wettest obstacle race in the UK to raise charity for families fighting homelessness in Britain.
Expect a sea of colours and costumed performers making their way through the streets around Notting Hill. You are free to join the crowd or simply watch the parade, fun and music from the pavement. Notting Hill Carnival leaves West London packed with steel bands, Calypso music and tempting food stalls.
