An unbelievably cool home in Paris’ 1st Arrondissement in the area known as Palais Royal. Eugene’s Play House reflects the ‘classy but casual’ air of this picturesque part of Paris. A spacious apartment with an abundance of attractive and comfortable communal areas including two courtyards and room to sleep up to eight.

High ceilings, gorgeous wooden floors and grand full-height windows tick the boxes of your archetypal Parisian features. Beautiful illustrations and striking black and white photography adorn the clean pastel walls bringing a creative and playful feel to every room, ante-room and corridor.Accessing the building via a coded-door and an intercom system the whole place is extremely secure. Once inside, the tasteful entrance hall and staircase set the scene for what is to come. The first floor of the apartment consists of three great-looking living areas with access to two pretty courtyards.

The huge living room with enormous windows that allow light to pour in and fill the room, has an eclectic suite of modern comfy sofas and armchairs as well as a huge desk and indulgent day-bed. The French doors open out to the larger of the two courtyards. A huge studio style lamp will provide soft lighting after sun down.

The bright dining room with seating for eight and a library wall leads onto the modern kitchen and breakfast room. With sleek modern fittings and rustic touches the large kitchen with dining space for five is another social area designed for communal living. The French doors in the kitchen lead out to the second courtyard with its own wooden table and chairs. A petit laundry room is hidden at the end of the corridor as well as a small bathroom and an ante-room introducing the staircase to access the upper floor.

All four bedrooms are bright and fresh with luxurious white linens. The master bedroom boasts a queen size bed, an office and a bathroom with walk-in shower. It also has a large dressing room with plenty of hanging space and a secret spiral staircase leading up to an additional office space hidden away at the top of the house. Ideal for peaceful isolation if you’re hoping to get some work done during your stay.

All three remaining rooms have closets with hanging space and shelves. The second bedroom has a mezzanine floor with a single bed in each part. The third bedroom has two single beds that can be brought together to create a double room. And the final room has two single beds that cannot be pushed together. This floor also benefits from a TV area with a large flat screen TV and a selection of DVDs and further bathroom with luxurious monsoon shower and classical wash basin.

Monumental apartment.. As a family coming to Paris for the first time, it was an extremely enjoyable time that we spent. A monumental place that can be mistaken for a small villa was a delight for everyone to stay. We quite enjoyed our stay in this beautifully illustrated apartment that had a great library to serve our literary senses, while the natural light coming from the massive windows stupefied the beauty of this apartment.

Royal experience.. As we embarked on our Europe tour (we were a gang of 3 couples), we travelled to Paris from Greece and having stayed at 3-4 star hotels in Athens, we wanted a private accommodation in the city of love and what a terrific apartment it was! The plush 4-bedrooms were so huge and had brightest walls that were so beautiful. It was a royal feeling.
